The concept is inspired by cityscape structures and the skyline of New York City; these tall upright forms echo the black rectangular packaging, a modern, timeless and iconic design language. Materials leverage the iconic gold finish in a more premium way. Moving away from the use of glossy gold to brushed gold to create a high-end, subtle backdrop that allows the bottles to shine.
Lighting is inspired by dramatic architecture and the energy of New York City. The key to lighting is getting our bottles to shine. Using warm glows and direct light, adding standout to the black forms to create a luxurious atmospheric retail environment.
The brand had a lot of gloss on gloss in their pop-ups, which diluted the bottles; the reflections bouncing off the backdrop also made the bottles harder to pick out. I created a rule where the gloss bottle would only sit in front of a satin or matte backdrop, allowing the bottle to shine and stand on its own.
